WOSL Premier Report: July

London, Ontario – For the Western Ontario Soccer League season junkie, the month of July has been a slow month for season statistics as much of the play and focus by all clubs and teams shift toward the divisional silverware. A slim total of twelve matches were completed during the month of July and the month’s statistics greatly mirror those of May.

All but two teams (Marconi and Croatia) have taken to the pitch at least 10 times so far this season. The league’s top division will now start to round the corner and dive into the second half of the season. There is still much to play for in all areas of the table and nothing is set in stone.

An incredible first half of the season has been put on display by Marconi. The east-end Italians are boasting the best overall record of any team in the entire WOSL and can claim the league’s only perfect record at 9-0-0. Jagiellonia took to the pitch once during the past month and are comfortably sitting in second place. The Croatians are sitting in the third position with a game in hand over the fourth place Olympians.

There is a 5 point gap between the Olympians and St. Thomas who find themselves in fifth. Places 5 through 8 are separated by a single point. The mid-pack outfits include: St. Thomas (12 points), Wallaceburg (12), English (11), and Tillsonburg (11), who have climbed out of the basement from the previous month. Chatham and America Pumas are also separated by a single point, however, both sides have some ground to make up and will need to string together positive results over a busy August in order to secure safety. Chatham are on 7 points, while America Pumas are on 6.

A total of 26 matches are scheduled for August.
